Humans were meant to fly, that's why they've been given contact improvisation!

Join Aaron Jessup for an amazing weekend of community and skill building on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui . First we will establish a firm foundation of contact improvisation vocabulary, then we'll use that common language to take our dancing to a higher level.

Flight is a state of freedom; a state of pure joy in both body and mind. In this weekend we will explore the dynamics, principles and techniques of safe, unforced lifting and flying. Come prepared to sweat, play, get upside down, be challenged and have fun! And, as if that's not enough, it's at the end the whale-sighting season.

Join OutsideIn Adventures and master Contact Improvisation teacher Scott Wells for a week of dancing, exploring nature, swimming, hiking and doing bodywork in the pristine northern sierras! 

We will begin and end our trip at Sierra Hot Springs, one of California's lesser-known gems.  

Drawing inspiration from the everyday miracles of the natural world, Scott will work his magic during daily contact improvisation classes while Aaron will provide wilderness skills instruction.  (No previous backpacking experience is necessary.)

Scott Wells

In 1981 Scott discovered the pleasure of contact improvisation shortly after becoming obsessed with the struggles of modern dance.  He stuck with both and currently directs a company and tours annually to Europe. In 2005 Scott received the San Francisco Award for Outstanding Choreography and was selected by Dance Magazine as "one of the 25 To Watch in 2005".

Aaron Jessup

The founder of OutsideIn Adventures, Aaron Jessup has been dancing contact improv since 1990 and has been teaching since 1997. He sees Contacting Nature as a way to combine his love of wilderness and dance. He freely admits that part of his motivation for this trip is selfish: to be around other people that love the same things. An added benefit for him is that this year, Contacting Nature will be falling over his birthday!
